Home Care

Understanding Home Care

Home care can be an excellent way to stay in the comfort and familiarity of your home for you or your loved ones. It gives you independence, with the confidence that comes from having the right support for day to day living activities.

If you only require a few services to enable you to continue living in your own home, you can access them through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). This programme can assist with domestic assistance, centre-based day care and meals. You do not need a financial assessment to access Commonwealth Home Support services, and your age pension will not be affected by your contributions to the costs of services.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

If you or your loved one feel some help is needed, but are not ready to move into assisted living we can help you understand what assistance is available, what fee help is accessible and where to start when looking for a provider.

There are many different types of aged care services available to support you, whatever your needs.

Home Care Packages

If you have more complex needs, a Home Care Package may be more suitable for you. You can access similar services to what’s covered by the CHSP and the services will be tailored to meet your specific needs.

You will be assessed and approved for home care package eligibility by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). This involves an income assessment.

What you need to know:

  • Am I eligible for the hardship supplement?
  • What are unrealisable assets?
  • What home care subsidies and supplements are available?
